Vice-President Kamala Harris is now running closer to Donald Trump that President Joe Biden in a new CNN poll after the first presidential debate last week.

The poll that finds that Trump is leading Biden by 6 points among registered voters similar to April. Trump received 49 percent, while Biden received 43 percent support. Another 4 percent said they would vote for someone else.

Harris, on the other hand, has a much stronger showing against Trump than Biden with the VP trailing the former president by two points, 45 percent to 47 percent which falls within the poll’s margin of error.

In a hypothetical match-up between Harris and Trump, 5 percent of registered voters say they would vote for someone else.

The poll comes amid calls for Biden to drop out of the race after a shaky performance in the debate last Thursday.

The CNN poll was conducted among 1,274 respondents between June 28 and 30. The margin of error is ± 3.5 percentage points.
