One day after telling Americans to stop getting offended by everything Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance expressed outrage over a comment made by President Joe Biden.

On Monday, Vance dismissed the controversy surrounding comments made by Tony Hinchcliffe, a pro-Trump comedian at the former president’s rally at Madison Square Garden, who referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

“I’m not going to comment on the specifics of the joke, but I think that we have to stop getting so offended at every little thing in the United States of America — I’m so over it,” Vance said.

Biden responded to Hinchcliffe’s comments during virtual remarks in a Voto Latino get-out-the-vote event saying, “the only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His, his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it’s un-American.”

“This is disgusting. Kamala Harris and her boss Joe Biden are attacking half of the country,” Vance said hours after urging Americans to not be so easily offended. “There’s no excuse for this. I hope Americans reject it.”

Social media users responded to Vance citing his own remarks hours earlier.
