Close Donald Trump ally and far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer is now claiming to be “blacker” than Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a live stream of her show last week, Loomer baselessly suggested that Harris, who is Black and South Asian, isn’t really Black.
“I’m not Black, obviously. I’m not going to pretend to be Black like Kamala Harris does, although I will say I’m blacker than Kamala Harris,” she said in a clip shared by Media Matters.
Republican have fixated on Harris’ heritage since Trump falsely claimed at a Black journalists conference in July that the Democratic presidential nominee had downplayed her Black heritage in the past, adding that she “happened to turn Black” a few years ago.
Harris, the daughter Jamaican and Indian immigrants, has long publicly identified as both Black and South Asian American.
Loomer also accused Harris of rolling out “fake accents” on the campaign trail and “pandering” to Black voters.
“She might as well just start talking about fried chicken and watermelon because her policies and her outreach to Black Americans is very offensive,” said Loomer who supports the candidate whose outreach to Black voters starts and stops with gold colored sneakers.
Also what Loomer is referring to as “fake accents” is code-switching, an adaptive communication technique common among politicians of color to ensure vital information is delivered to voters depending on their audience.
Loomer recently came under fire from Republicans, including Trump allies over a racist post on X claiming that if Harris wins the White House will “smell like curry” a racist reference to the vice president’s Indian heritage.
