Trump wants to jail journalists to reveal their sources and Stephen Miller is on board.

Donald Trump reportedly discussed putting journalists in jail, and the incoming Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller, is 100% behind the plan.

On Friday, Trump announced he is replacing Susie Wiles with Miller days after catastrophic Republican losses in the midterms, which saw Democrats take control of both the House and the Senate.

According to a report from The Atlantic, Trump was privately blaming Wiles for his midterm losses and wants somebody in the chief of staff role who “will crack skulls” and “doesn’t want to rein” him in.

The outlet reported that Trump has been pressuring the Department of Justice to pursue criminal-leak investigations on national-security grounds and even suggested arresting journalists to force them to reveal their sources.

Several sources familiar with the matter told The Atlantic that Wiles pushed back, but Miller favored the plan and even insisted that jailing journalists would be the quickest way to get them to give up their sources.

A DOJ spokesperson called the story “absolutely false” in a statement to The Atlantic, but did not provide further context.

A White House spokesperson said in a statement that “unauthorized leaks of sensitive national security information will NEVER be tolerated. They endanger American lives and threaten our national security. Those responsible must be held accountable.”
