Nearly half of Americans believe Donald Trump should end his campaign for president after he was convicted in a criminal hush money trial last week.

According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll, 49% think Trump should suspend his campaign after he was found guilty of more than 30 felony counts of falsifying business records to hide hush money payments to cover up an affair just before the 2016 presidential election.

Along partisan lines, 79% of Democrats and 16% of Republicans believe Trump should end his campaign. Meanwhile, 52% of independents believe the same.

This ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted between May 31-June 1, 2024, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 781 U.S. adults. It has a margin of error of ±3.7 points.
