On Wednesday, the United States set two new records, the highest number of deaths and hospitalizations from COVID in a single day since the start of the pandemic.
According to the COVID Tracking Project, 2,733 Americans died from the coronavirus on Wednesday and 100,226 were hospitalized. This is the first time that the number of hospitalizations surpassed 100k since the pandemic began.
While we wait for a vaccine, hospitals across the country are struggling to handle the surge.
One county official in Wisconsin told CNN: “Our hospital ICUs and emergency rooms remain stretched beyond any reasonable limit and our healthcare workers as well as our patients need our help.”
