White House reporter test positive for coronavirus.

A White House reporter has tested positive for coronavirus. The unnamed reporter was at two press briefings this week, though the individual wore a mask.

“The individual attended briefings on Monday 7/6 and Wednesday 7/8 afternoons and wore a mask the entire time they were on the White House complex,” WHCA president Jonathan Karl wrote in an email. “The individual is asymptomatic. We are contacting those who the individual recalled being in closer contact. Other than the briefings, this person did not spend time working out of the White House and was only in briefing room itself, not elsewhere in our workspace.”

This is the first time a White House journalist has tested positive for COVID-19, but it’s not the first positive test in Trump’s inner circle. His personal valet, Katie Miller, Pence’s press secretary, and multiple campaign officials including Kimberly Guilfoyle all tested positive for the coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus cases across the country is surging. On Tuesday, the country set a new single-day record of 60,000 confirmed cases, pushing the total number of confirmed cases over 3 million.
