Boebert’s constituents respond after she switched district: “Thank goodness!”

Boebert says God encouraged her to switch districts.

There were mixed reactions from constituents to Colorado Rep Lauren Boebert (R) announcement Wednesday night that she will be switching districts in 2024 in hopes of saving her congressional career.

Boebert announced during a Facebook Live that she will not be seeking re-election in Colorado’s 3rd congressional district. She will instead run in Colorado’s 4th district which is more GOP-friendly.

“Today I’m announcing my candidacy for the 2024 Republican nomination to represent Colorado’s 4th Congressional District. It’s the right move for me personally and it’s the right decision for those who support our conservative movement,” Boebert said.

The announcement drew mixed reactions from her constituents, with some happy to see her go, others say they’ll miss her and some slammed her for abandoning the district.

“Thank goodness! Now we can get some real representation in the 3rd District,” Mandie Mercer wrote. “You were useless.”

“Lauren, Good luck going forward in your political and private life. You will be missed here in CO. 3rd,” Richard Hathorne wrote. “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with you on your campaigns. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to conservative values. CO. 4 will be lucky to have you.”

“Good luck Lauren! Thank you for always standing by your conservative values!” Fran Justman wrote. “We will miss you in Western Colorado!”

“You’ve abandoned us,” Garrett Armsby wrote. “This isn’t even your district! We that held dinners and fundraisers for you in the third wont forget this! You are part of the problem now. Thanks for giving up and moving to better your career. It’s gonna be short with any luck.”

And some voters in the 4th district aren’t thrilled about Boebert trying to represent them in Congress.

“I’m in the 4th and you are not welcome here,” Jennifer Pettus wrote.

“The 4th District doesn’t want you!” another Facebook user wrote.

“Stay in 3rd. We have got great candidates here already,” user Amity Wicks wrote.

“I live in the 4th. Ken buck was bad enough, what did we do to deserve this? I have never campaigned for a candidate before, but I will be campaigning for whoever is running against you in the primary,” Joanie May wrote. “You were useless and an embarrassment in the 3rd, don’t need you here!”

Boebert’s decision to switch districts came months after she was kicked out of a performance of ‘Beetlejuice’ in Denver along with her date. Security camera footage showed the pair groping each other and vaping during the performance.

The backlash has resulted in Boebert losing the support of key Republicans in the state who are lining up behind her primary opponent Jeff Hurd. Even if Boebert had survived the primary fight she would have faced Democrat Adam Frisch in the general election.

Boebert narrowly defeated Frisch in the 2022 midterms and this time the Democrat has a bigger war chest.
