The Commission on Presidential Debates says it plans to announce changes to the rules for the remaining Biden–Trump debates.

“Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues,” the commission said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement went on to say that these measures will be announced shortly and they “intend to ensure that additional tools are to maintain order are in place for the remaining debates.”

This comes after a disastrous first debate on Tuesday in which Donald Trump ignored the rules, lies and interrupts Joe Biden for much of the debate.

At the end, there was no substantive policy discussion and the main headline coming out of the debate was Trump’s refusal to condemn white supremacists.
