Ex-Trump aide is running in a more competitive Democratic-friendly Ohio district after redistricting.

Trump acolyte faces a competitive race in a more Democratic-friendly Ohio district after redistricting.

A former Trump advise is now preparing for a much tougher race in Ohio under the state’s new redistricting map.

According to Politico, Max Miller has shifted his campaign from Ohio’s red 16th congressional district to the state’s 13th congressional district, a swing district that includes liberal Akron.

Before redistricting, Miller, who is endorsed by Trump was challenging Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, one of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach the former president for inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. But Gonzalez will not be seeking reelection in 2022 which means Miller would have run unopposed and would cruise to an easy win.

“The district number may be changing, but my campaign to advance America First policies — policies that lower taxes, secure the southern border and make our communities safer — will persist,” Miller said in a statement. “I love Ohio and I look forward to taking the voice of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District to Congress as part of a new Republican majority.”

While Miller is unlikely to face any serious Republican challenge in a primary, Politico noted that he will certainly face a Democratic opponent in 2022 where the Democratic majority in the House is at stake.

However, the Democrat who decides to challenge Miller will be at a disadvantage given that Miller has already built a significant war chest. His campaign announced earlier this year that he raised $1.6 million.
