Two Democratic lawmakers who were expelled from the Tennessee state House for their involvement in gun control protests, reclaim their House seats on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Reps. Justin Jones (D) and Justin Pearson (D) two members of the ‘Tennessee Three’ easily defeated their opponents, Laura Nelson (R) and  Jeff Johnston (Ind.), respectively in special elections.

Jones and Person joined fellow Democrat Rep. Gloria Johnson in a protest for more gun control on the House floor earlier this year after a mass shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tenn. left six people dead, including three children.

The pair, both of whom are Black, were expelled from the legislature after Republicans claimed their actions violated House rules. Johnson who is white, was not expelled.

The lawmakers were reinstated on an interim basis by local officials in their respective districts. Both lawmakers fully reclaim their seats on Thursday and will rejoin the Tennessee state legislature.
