Republican senate candidate in Georgia, Herschel Walker says he is angry with Donald Trump for lying about asking his to run for office and suggests that God, not Trump, deserves all the credit for his senate bid.
In an interview with Revolt TV, Walker said it was God who told him to run for Senate, not Trump.
“One thing that people don’t know is President Trump never asked me. I need to tell him that he never asked. I heard it all on television that he’s going to ask Herschel, saying Herschel is going to run. President Trump never came out and said, ‘Herschel, will you run for that Senate seat?. So, I’m mad at him because he never asked but he’s taking credit that he asked,” Walker said.
Walker said before he made the decision to run for office he went into prayer and was “praying that God would bring somebody else because I’m happy. My life is doing well. But I love the Lord Jesus,” he said.
Trump endorsed Walker’s Senate bid last September despite questions about his business dealings and history of violence against women. Walker has been open about his long struggle with mental illness.
Walker won the Republican primary last week defeating five candidates including Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black and former Trump administration official and Navy veteran Latham Saddler.
He will face incumbent Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock in November.
