The new RNC chair Michael Whatley has been on the job for a week and is already a gift to democrats.
In an appearance of Fox News Friday, Whatley tried to stick to the latest Republican talking point–asking voters if they are doing better today than they were four years ago–but ended up accidentally admitting that Americans are better off today, twice.
“At the end of the day, this comes down to a very simple contrast between President Trump and President Biden,” he said. “Were you better off four years ago than you are today? The answer for this entire country is no. I mean, yes. We are better off today, or, we will be better off under President Trump than we will under President Biden.”
Asking voters if they are better off was a tactic used by Ronald Reagan in the 1980 presidential debate with Jimmy Carter. It was effective then, not so much now considering that four years ago was the year 2020 when the world was ravaged by a pandemic that killed thousands of Americans while Donald Trump was in office.
The Biden campaign was quick to respond to Whatley’s gaffe writing, “This post was fact-checked by real American patriots – TRUE.”
