Trump says Zelensky ‘disrespected the United States in the Oval Office.
US President Donald Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky meet in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC, February 28, 2025. Zelensky and Trump openly clashed in the White House on February 28 at a meeting where they were due to sign a deal on sharing Ukraine's mineral riches and discuss a peace deal with Russia. "You're not acting at all thankful. It's not a nice thing," Trump said. "It's going to be very hard to do business like this," he added. Following a heated exchange between Donald Trump, JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office, the US president took to his social media platform to accuse Zelensky of disrespecting the US.

“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.”

“I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE,” he continued. “He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
