Police have charged the suspect in Monday’s massacre at the King Soopers supermarket in Boulder, Colorado with 10 counts of first degree murder, hours after the attack that left 10 people dead including a police officer.
Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa of Arvada, Colorado, who has “lived most of his life in the United States,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said.

He was shot in his leg during a shootout with police at the scene and was taken to hospital in stable condition. He will be transferred to the Boulder County jail after treatment is finished.
The 10 people who died ranged in age from 20 to 65.
They were, according to Boulder police: Denny Strong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Teri Leiker, 51; Kevin Mahoney, 61; Lynn Murray, 62; Jody Waters, 65; and Boulder police officer Eric Talley, 51.
Talley was an eleven year veteran of the Boulder police force and was the first officer to respond. He leaves behind a wife and seven children.
“He was by all accounts one of the outstanding officers of the Boulder Police Department, and his life was cut too short,” said Dougherty.
