Far-right anti-LGBTQ activist ruled out a possible suspect in NC power outage after sheriff prayed with her.

An anti-LGBTQ activist who claimed to know what really caused the power outage in Moore County, North Carolina was ruled out as a possible suspect after the sheriff met and prayed with her.

Emily Grace Rainey, a former U.S. Army psychological operations officer made several post on social media after the power went out, including one in which she claims to know what really happened, according to WRAL News.

However, Moore County sheriff Ronnie Fields said after talking with Rainey and having a word of prayer with her they were able to rule her out as a suspect.

“We had to go and interview this young lady and have a word of prayer with her, but it turned out to be nothing,” Fields said at a news conference on Sunday.

Authorities believe the outage, due to an attack on two substations, was intentionally caused by gunfire and the incident is now being investigated as a criminal act. About 40,000 customers were affected.

Before the power outage Rainey, who claims to be the head of the conservative Moore County Citizens for Freedom (MCCF) was protesting a drag show that was scheduled to be held in Southern Pines later on Saturday. She urged her followers on social media to contact the sponsors of the event and voice their opinions.

After the outage, Rainey wrote on Facebook: “The power is out in Moore County and I know why.” She also posted a photo of the venue where the drag show was scheduled to be held and claimed that God was “chastising Moore County,” WRAL reports.

Authorities were looking into protesters of the drag show, but so far they have not been able to make a connection between the two.
