Jill Biden accuses the media of “double standard” in coverage of Trump and former President Biden.

Former First Lady Jill Biden called out the “double standard” in the media’s coverage of former President Joe Biden compared to Donald Trump.

Biden sat down with “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg last month to promote her memoir, “A View from the East Wing,” and was asked about press coverage of her husband’s presidential term.

Biden said her husband would have been “excoriated” if he had been responsible for much of what is happening under the current Trump administration.

“If Joe would have done any one of the things that are occurring now, I mean he would have been excoriated,” she told, according to The Hill. “But, you know, it’s just there, it’s like there’s a double standard. And that I don’t think is fair or was fair.”

Still, the former first lady suggested the Biden administration could have done more to build stronger relationships with the press, saying she regretted not engaging with the press more.

“Maybe we could have done more to reach out to the press to be more open so that they understood us as real people and not sort of these figureheads,” Biden said. “That’s one thing I do regret, that maybe we could have formed closer relationships.”
