House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) lost his cool with a MAGA lawmaker during a clash behind closed doors over a recent bill.

According to NOTUS, members of Congress, including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and Rep. Zach Nunn (R-IA), clashed in the meeting over a bipartisan veterans bill. Luna opposed the legislation while Nunn supported it.

When Luna turned her anger toward Johnson, he snapped and replied, “I’m sick of this shit,” the outlet reported, citing multiple sources in the room.

The scene unfolded before the elementary-school-aged son of Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Colorado). Lawmakers in the room told NOTUS that Johnson apologized to Luna after his outburst and walked over to the child, “got down on one knee and apologized for cursing” in front of him.

Johnson later pulled the bill because some Republicans were threatening to tank it.

Republicans hold a very narrow majority in the House, which means a handful of lawmakers can derail the party’s agenda. Sources told NOTUS that many lawmakers on Capitol Hill are becoming increasingly frustrated with the far-right rebels in their conference who block the party’s ability to get anything done.

“It creates anger and resentment. We want to get things done, and dysfunction’s not good,” retiring Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) said.

“The Republican conference is a diverse gathering of people, some of whom are really effective at getting things done and others who are more interested in knocking things down,” Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-South Dakota) told NOTUS.

“The vast majority of members are team players who do not appreciate the minority, the small minority, that does that,” Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Florida) said. “I don’t appreciate it, but we live in that reality that they can leverage it. So there are the vast majority of us who don’t like that. We’re team players.”

However, the rebels argue that they are fighting for conservative principles.

“It’s the hardcore conservatives against everybody else,” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) said. “Matt Gaetz told me, I remember, he said that, ‘We’ll have more power if we don’t have a supermajority; it gives us more opportunity because if we did, we’d just get run over.”

“The only measure is whether we are successful in delivering for the American people,” Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md), the chairman of the far-right House Freedom Caucus, said.
