Donald Trump-endorsed Republican Rep. Cory Mills is projected to lose his Florida House seat.

Ryan Elijah, a former local television news reporter, defeated Mills in the four-way GOP primary for Florida’s 7th district, according to Politico.

Mills has come under fire in recent months amid an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation over campaign finance law violations, misused congressional resources, or improperly received gifts or special favors.

Last year, a judge placed a restraining order on Mills after an ex-girlfriend said that the two-term lawmaker had threatened to release sexually explicit videos of her. Police also investigated an incident early last year in which Mills was accused of physically assaulting another woman with whom he was in a relationship. No charges have been filed.

Democrats were targeting the seat as a potential pickup opportunity if Mills had won the primary. The incumbent congressman’s defeat is another embarrassing defeat for Trump, this time in his adopted home state.

Elijah will face Democrat Bale Dalton, a veteran and former chief of staff for NASA, as well as Libertarian Christopher Dennison in the November general election.
