Trump-backed Georgia senate candidate Herschel Walker cancels fundraiser hosted by donor with swastika as profile photo after defending it.

Trump-backed Georgia senate candidate Herschel Walker campaign linked to funder with swastika as profile photo.

Former NFL player Herschel Walker, the Donald Trump backed candidate running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia was forced to respond to reports about one of his major fundraisers using a swastika as her profile photo on Twitter.

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist pointed out that the image on the Twitter profile belonging to one of Walker’s major fundraisers, film and television producer Bettina Sofia Viviano-Langlais resembled a swastika made out of syringes.

Walker’s campaign initially defended Viviano-Langlais in a statement saying: “This is clearly an anti-mandatory vaccination graphic. Herschel unequivocally opposes anti-semitism and bigotry of all kinds.”

However, hours later Walker canceled the fundraiser scheduled for this weekend at Viviano-Langlais’ Texas home, according to the Daily Beast.

“Despite the fact that the apparent intent behind the graphic was to condemn government vaccine mandates, the symbol used is very offensive and does not reflect the values of Herschel Walker or his campaign,” the campaign said.

Viviano-Langlais later changed her profile photo to a flag of Texas “because of the left’s need to silence free speech.”

Walker has already raised $3.7 million in his Senate bid to replace Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.
