Trump calls verdict in E. Jean Carroll case a “disgrace”

CEOs say Trump was 'meandering' and 'doesn’t know what he’s talking about’ during meeting.

Former President Donald Trump lashed out on Tuesday after a New York jury found that he sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll and defamed her when she went public with the allegations.

“I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHO THIS WOMAN IS. THIS VERDICT IS A DISGRACE – A CONTINUATION OF THE GREATEST WITCH HUNT OF ALL TIME!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website.

Carroll, an advice columnist, filed a civil defamation and battery case against Trump, accusing him of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman store in the 1990s and later defamed her.

A nine-member jury in New York found that Trump did not commit rape, but jurors found that Carroll had proven “by a preponderance of the evidence” that Trump sexually abused her. The jury also found that Trump had defamed Carroll by calling her claims a “hoax” and “a con job.”

Trump was ordered to pay Carroll a total of $5 million in damages.
