Ken Paxton, the scandal-plagued Trump-endorsed candidate for US Senate in Texas, was caught in a lie about crowd sizes at a recent event.

Paxton held a rally at the University Draft House on Tuesday evening. According to a local outlet, the event drew a modest audience of around 100 people.

However, in a post on social media, Paxton’s team claimed that 763 people attended.

But, according to MyRGV.com, the venue has a building occupancy of 150 to 200 people.

Paxton reportedly spoke for less than 10 minutes at the rally. Most of his speech was just a regurgitation of MAGA talking points.

“I just got an agreement with Texas Children’s Hospital to open up a detransitioning unit for children and to provide those services for five years for free,” he claimed during the speech. He also promised to lower taxes and gas prices, though he did not say how. The increase in gas prices is due to Trump’s war with Iran, which Paxton supports.

Paxton defeated the incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in a runoff election largely due to Trump’s endorsement. Paxton will face Democrat James Talarico in the November general election.

Democrats believe they can flip the seat, given how unpopular Donald Trump is and how deeply flawed Paxton is as a candidate. Polls consistently show a tight race between Paxton and Talarico.
