Former Superman actor and staunch Donald Trump supporter Dean Cain tried to promote the president’s fair this weekend but ended up proving critics right.

The MAGA actor posted a photo from atop the Ferris wheel at the fair, praising the views of the National Mall during the event to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

“I don’t like heights, but the view from atop the Ferris Wheel at the Great American State Fair is awesome!!!” Cain wrote on Twitter.

Cain’s photo shows the fairgrounds lined with white exhibition tents and small, scattered groups of people walking or standing across the lawn. Several critics, including former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger, noted that the photo only confirmed the event was poorly attended.

“Hahahaha dude this is not the picture to show,” Kinzinger wrote. “All 6 people.”

Cain fired back, insisting that “there were thousands of people there and all around DC today.”

In another reply to a Twitter user, Cain blamed the weather for people not being on the grass and that his photo only showed a ‘partial’ view of the celebrations.

“Tons of people—but not just sitting on the grass… it’s hot outside! That’s only a ‘partial’ view,” he wrote.

Attendance at the Trump-backed Freedom 250 Great American State Fair has become a political flashpoint. Since the event opened last week, critics have pointed to photos and videos showing sparse crowds. But Trump and his allies have insisted turnout has been strong, with the president claiming as many as 45,000 people attended the kickoff rally on Wednesday night, according to Newsweek.
