Republican presidential candidate and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has surpassed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in New Hampshire, according to an Emerson College poll.
Christie pulled ahead of DeSantis for second place in New Hampshire with a one point lead. Christie received 9 percent support while DeSantis, who was once in second place with double digit support, has faded to third with just 8 percent.
“DeSantis has been the alternative to Trump in Emerson polling this presidential cycle. This is the first time we have seen DeSantis drop out of second place in our polling, and fall back into the pack of candidates,” Executive Director of Emerson College Polling Spencer Kimball said.
Donald Trump continues to dominate the GOP primary receiving 49 percent of the vote, according to the poll. Senator Tim Scott (SC) is in fourth with 6 percent. No other candidate in the GOP primary field received more than 5 percent support.
The Emerson College Poll was conducted from Aug. 9-11 with a sample of 837 registered voters. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
