Raskin challenges Nadler for top Dem on Judiciary Committee.

Raskin suggest moving the Supreme Court to the RNC headquarters.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.)has announced he is challenging Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) for ranking Democrat on the powerful House Judiciary Committee.

“In the 119th Congress, the Judiciary Committee will be the headquarters of Congressional opposition to authoritarianism and MAGA’s campaign to dismantle our Constitutional system and the rule of law as we know it,” Raskin, a former constitutional law professor who served as Democrats’ lead prosecutor in the Trump impeachment trial after the Jan. 6 attack, told colleagues in a letter Monday, NBC News reports.

“I hope to be at the center of this fight and — as someone who has battled cancer and chemotherapy — I can tell you that I will never, never surrender,” he continued.

Raskin, 61, is the the current ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.

If he is selected for the role, Raskin said he will “turn to Jerry first and throughout for his always wise counsel and political judgment.”

Meanwhile, Nadler, 77, is signaling he is not going down without a fight.

“I am ready, willing, and able to take on Donald Trump and the House Republicans. I am younger than President Trump, and I have fought him my entire career both in NY and Washington, DC,” Nadler said in a statement to Axios.

“I will put my record of accomplishment as Chairman and Ranking Member against anyone and I’m honored to have the strong support of the caucus,” he added.
