Donald Trump is “furious” about Dr. Mehmet Oz losing in Pennsylvania and is reportedly blaming his wife, Melania, for advising him to back the celebrity TV doctor.
“Trump is indeed furious this morning, particularly about Mehmet Oz, and is blaming everyone who advised him to back Oz, including his wife, describing it as not her best decision, according to people close to him,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted on Wednesday morning.
In addition to Oz, several of the candidates Trump endorsed in key swing states suffered losses and people are now urging the former president to reschedule his plans to announce his run for the White House next week.
Rescheduling his announcement would be “risky” and “would be acknowledging he’s wounded by yesterday, something that some of his advisers insist is not the case,” according to Haberman.
An adviser to Trump also told CNN that the former president is “livid” and “screaming at everyone” after his candidates flopped in the midterms. However, he has no plans to reschedule his announcement because “it’s too humiliating to delay.”
Oz lost to Democrat John Fetterman in Pennsylvania’s closely watched Senate race. It was a devastating loss for Republicans trying to win back control of the Senate. Fetterman’s win allowed Democrats to pick up the seat held by retiring GOP Senator Sen. Pat Toomey.
Oz has reportedly called Fetterman to concede the race.
